Daily Devotion (English) – 12.12.2022 (Christmas Special)

 

Everyday ……. 

 

“…if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; Old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” - 2 Corinthians 5:17

 

In a small village near London, every year the day before Christmas Birth of Jesus play will be organized. The villages will act in it. That year, a young man named Wallis shown interest to act in that play so he approached the organizer to get permission to act in that play and he showed interest to act as the shepherd. The organizer asked him, "You are tall so why are you interested to act as a shepherd". He said "Sir, because shepherds got the chance to see Jesus first." The organizer told him to act as the innkeeper. He agreed and somehow they completed the practice.

 

The pastor started the play with prayer. Wallis was acting as the innkeeper, and administering everything from the reception. At that time, pregnant Marie ready to deliver a baby at any time and Joseph after a long journey came to that inn very tired seeking for a place to rest. He asked Wallis, " my wife is about to deliver a baby, can I get a place to stay." The innkeeper said "There is no place for you here go away" in a rude manner. Wallis' heart moved with compassion as Joseph and Marie went away sadly. He regretted for being rude. He said "Joseph don't go, you can stay in my room. Let Jesus be born in m house today". On seeing this, the organizer yelled at him saying, "Wallis you ruined the play" They somehow managed and moved to the next scene and somehow completed the play.

 

In the end, the village head said "Every year we are watching this play. But Wallis's words made us think. Yeah, he said Let Jesus be born in my house, and how beautiful is that. Let us surrender ourselves so that Jesus can be born in our hearts." Yeah, my dear! Christmas is not about celebrating once a year, Let Jesus born in us and surrenders ourselves to change our old sinful life and let the boundless happiness of Christ born in us daily fill us. This is the meaningful Christmas.
