A meaningful Christmas between brethren
“…for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen.” – 1 John 4:20
Let us meditate about two different brothers today from Genesis. First being Esau and Jacob, Esau came with 400 men to greet Jacob who took all his blessings. Jacob sent gifts in front to Esau because he was scared of him. But Esau forgave all those hatred so he hugged Jacob's neck and cried. Jacob insisted Esau to accept the gifts, but Esau said, "I have enough, my brother; keep that thou hast unto thyself." Yea, when we forgive and accept our brothers and sisters God will also forgive our shortcomings, accept us and bless us.
Secondly, Cain and Abel. God respected Abel and his offerings, so Cain was very angry, and his countenance fell. He murdered Abel because he couldn't accept Abel and his blessing. And also, he was cursed by God. See! A brother accepted his cheating brother Jacob. On the other hand, Cain dared to murder his innocent brother.
If we look at this world, we can see that anger, envy, hatred, rage and enmity are increasing among siblings day by day. Current situation is seeking justice in court for destroyable things. We are at a state in which we can’t forgive others. Cain killed Abel with a stone in the past. But now we are doing that with a word. He won’t accept our offerings if we are fighting among brothers without peace. He says, "First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift." We can say, "I am not to be blamed, he was the one who wronged, so let him come and as forgiveness and I will forgive." Whenever the question "Who is first" arises remember one thing. Among the two who is more spiritual should try to compromise first.
Yeah, This Christmas festive season has brought us to the doorstep of peace. So let us receive God's grace needed for this and act without hesitation. Instead of sending forward message as a ritual, let us share our love in person. Let this Christmas season help us to live as a meaningful Christian in our family.
