Daily Devotion (English) – 08.12.2022 (Christmas Special)

 

A meaningful Christmas in teaching 

 

“…go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’…” - Matthew 9:13 

 

It was during the second world was in its peak! Jews and Priests were praying in a church in Poland. A man came running into the church, his clothes were torn, and he was covered in bloodshed wounds. He said to those praying there, we are fighting for you and called them to come and join them. They said this is our usual praying time. Then a vice from somewhere told them "go and fight with them". 

 

This is festive season! Christians getting ready for Christmas on one side, a crowd longing to celebrate Christmas by wearing new clothes on the other side! In this situation what are we going to teach our future generations. Is it traditional celebrations or helping the needy? In, Mark 3: 1-6, Jesus saw a man with withered hands when he entered the synagogue and healed him. Pharisees were not happy about this. Instead, they wanted to find an accusation because he was healed in Sunday. Jesus Rebuked them.

 

My beloved in Christ! What is our preference in this festive season? What are we teaching to our generations? Is it how to be sing, dance and be happy during a festival? or helping the needy? Not as a showoff or as a tradition. Jesus rebuked the Pharisees for following the traditions and ignoring the necessary things, let us teach our generation to follow what is necessary. Let us be careful to walk and do according to our Lord's will for he said, "I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go". Let us lead a truthful life based on the Bible. Let us shine for the Lord. Let us celebrate meaningful Christmas by living as a good Christian
