Imprison 

 

“Casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ…” - 2 Corinthians 10:5

 

A youngster wanted to meditate quietly and see God, so he went into the forest and started to meditate sitting under a tree. A group of young women were going to their dance class through the forest. This youngster's meditation got disturbed as he looked at them. Suddenly he tied a cloth around his eyes and continued his meditation. The next day at the same time, he was disturbed by the ankles belles worn by these young women. So, he covered his ears with some clothes to continue his meditation. The next day he was disturbed by the smell of the flowers they wore on their head and covered his nose. The next day, at the same time he thought that "those women will be going by now" and struggled to control his mind. 

 

The Bible says in Proverbs 4:23 "Keep thy heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issue of life". The heart mentioned here is not about the fleshy heart we have in us. But about the thoughts we have in our heart, careful about it and protect it. Let us only do what pleases God through our sensory organs (eyes, ears, nose, mouth and touch). If we permit those that God hates into our hearts, it will come out as sinful deeds. Bad thoughts can't be prevented. If those bad thoughts aren’t controlled or stopped, it will bring great danger. Paul writes to the church of Corinth in 2 Corinthians 10:5 " Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalted itself against the knowledge of God and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ." What does God tell us through this? Learn to imprison sinful thoughts in Christ. My dear! We can’t stop birds flying over my head. But we can protect them from building their nest on our heads. How is your heart (thoughts) going to be?
