Goodness

 

“For the fruit of the spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth” - Ephesians 5:9

 

Not only distancing ourselves from that appears to be evil but also helping others for their spiritual needs is called as goodness. Goodness should be displayed in our character and whatever we do. 

 

Nowadays almost people from every faith have this goodness. One day I saw a sticker in the bike of a person from different faith saying "Do good for evil". They receive satisfaction and happiness in their soul by doing many good things. But as we know, experienced and live with Jesus Christ, our character should be changed to goodness and it should naturally induce us to do good things to those around us. 

 

In acts 9:36, Dorcas, this woman was full of good works and charitable deeds. In Ruth 3:11, 12 Ruth was filled with goodness and truth, she was known as a virtuous woman. In the Bible, all the good values Jesus Christ mentions will make us blessed or help us lead a life filled with goodness. In the Bible it is not mentioned as fruits of the spirit as plural but fruit of spirit as singular (Galatians 5:22-23). Like a fruit has its own smell, taste, texture, moisture, softness, color, shape, proteins, elements, God wants us to have all the nine spiritual fruits in our life. 

 

Florence was born in Italy, she had Christ's compassion and goodness from her childhood, and it broke her heart on seeing poor people living in sickness. She joined a nursing school and took training there. She saved injured soldiers in 1854 in Europe with compassion. Queen Victoria gave huge money as prize to appreciate her deeds but she spent that for poor people and started a nursing school to help many. Her goodness and love touches lot of people. 

 

God wants His people to be experienced and ready to be qualified to do any goodness. My dear, others should glorify God by seeing the goodness in us. Amen
