Daily Devotion (English) – 16.11.2022

 

For a blessed 

 

“…Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord?...” - 1 Samuel 15:22

 

Obedience is very important in a Christian life. We can see those who were obedient to the Lord led a blessed life for their generation and those who weren't lead a cursed life for themselves and their generations. For example, Abraham's obedience led his generation to blessed to this day among the rest. The result of the Achan's disobedience is his generation was burnt. Let us meditate on the disobedience of King Saul.

 

God told Saul through Samuel, to destroy Amalekites and their belongings. Because God remembered that Amalekites didn't let the Israelites pass through their country when they came from Egypt. So God told to destroy them. But Saul didn't obey God and left Agag alive, and kept the livestock alive. God regretted making Saul because he disobeyed for this little things. This little disobedience made Saul to lose his kingship. May be today God has lifted us like Saul in our family, workplace, society or our church. But are we ignoring God Who lofted us up and trying to please others? Let us imagine. It wont take long to lose the goodness because of disobedience. Let us ask ourselves "Who am I trying to please either God or man" and let us decide make God our top priority. 

 

In this moment we have to think about the obedience of Jesus Christ. "Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. (Philippians 2: 6-8). Yes, Jesus being one in the trinity and if obedience is that important for him then how much is it important for us. Yes my dear! Let us not forget that obedience will not only benefit us but will be a blessing for our generation. Jonah's disobedience led to the tempest in the sea. Your life will be blessed when we accept our disobedience in the presence of God like Jonah.
