Self understanding
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding” - Proverbs 3:5
Long ago people from the royal family were trained by an old guru and ruled their kingdom wisely. That guru had a boy. Worried about his child's future, he sent him to his neighboring king with a bag in his hand. He was eager to know what was inside the bag and shocked to see what was inside. There was a stick, a wooden sword and a torn old cloth. How can I give these to the king he thought and made some things with his talents? He reached the gates of the palace.
He gave the new things to the guard. He didn’t receive any answers from the king. After waiting for some time, he gave the bag his dad gave him to the guard. In few minutes, the king came to the entrance hugged him and took him into the palace. The king pointed to the stick and said" this stick corrected me when I'm wrong. My hands were trained in this sword. My teacher saved me with this cloth when i was stuck in sinking sand." These are treasures for me. "If you had given these to me earlier, you would have come into the palace sooner". He was worried about the time he wasted when he used his own understanding to gain good value.
In the Bible, we can meditate about Peter in Luke 5:2-11. He was a talented fisherman. He knew everything about fishing. He was washing the nets as he didn't catch any fish overnight. Then Jesus sat in the boat with Peter. Jesus told him to drive further and cast the nets. He didn’t say what he knew but he said, "I'll cast my nets as you say" and he obeyed it, as a result he caught great many fishes that they could tear his nets.
Yes, children of God! We might have met failures in studies or job or in ministry by forgetting Christ and trusting our own talents or fellow humans. Our self-most of the times will make us forget Christ and lose our blessings. Let us decide to rely on the strength of Christ rather than our own strength. Let us live victorious life by receiving the blessings our heavenly father has for us. Hallelujah.
