Genuine Love

 

“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” - John 15:13 

 

We all have heard about the love of mother Teresa. The love she showed towards lepers and poor is truly noble. She left her country and came to India, she served our people for 45 years because of that noble love. During her death, 610 of her charitable organisations were in 120 countries. Rehabilitation centres for HIV patients, leprosy patients, TB patients, orphanages and schools were included in it. 

 

In today's devotion we will see about the love between David and Jonathan. The first king of Israel was Saul. His son was Jonathan. David was a shepherd. David was brought to the palace to play a musical instrument, when he does so the spirit possessed Saul will leave him for a bit. Jonathan and David became good friends. Jonathan pleaded for David to Saul when he sent soldiers to kill him. We can see when David was afraid of Saul and hiding in the desert, Jonathan went to him and strengthened him. See the genuine love of a prince had towards a young common shepherd. 

 

My dear! Let us think what kind of love do we show on others. We have shown love just because we need something from that person. But mother Teresa didn't serve these people expecting fame and fortune. She lived a frugal life. Above all how noble is the love of Jesus Who gave his own life. That is the reason we are alive today. Let us show others the Christ's true love. Let us reflect Christ's image.
