“You have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.” - Hebrews 12:4

 

Let us meditate on 4 things we lose when we are not leading a holy life and yielding to sin. 

 

God's presence: God's presence is important in the life of those who have Christ in them. But we lose God's presence when we commit presumptuous sin. Since we cannot read or meditate the bible and pray, we are in a danger to slide back to the life of a non-believer. 

 

Faith: James 1:14 says "But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own list and enticed". When we sin, we fall into the traps of Satan and attract problems. We lose faith in God during this stage.

 

Peace: Only if God's peace is in us, we and our neighbors can live peacefully. When we sin, we lose God's peace, we get confused and lose happiness.

 

Blessings: When we hurt God by living a sinful life, it will be a hurdle for us to inherit the blessings God has for us. God's plan in our life will get delayed. 

 

My dear precious one! If we meditate on the life of Samson and Joseph both of them were predetermined and chosen by God to serve as his tool. Joseph stood against sin and won; he inherited the blessed life God had for him. But Samson yielded to sin, he was senseless, didn’t want to stand up and fight against sin and lost God's presence, he became a laughing stock for many and died without inheriting the blessed life God had for him. 

 

We cannot win sin with our own strength. If we try to overcome by ourself, there is a chance for us to slide back into that sin. Only the blood of Jesus can wash away all our sins and purify us. God will give us the strength to overcome sin and the fullness in Holy Spirit. Let us stand against sin with the help of the Holy Spirit and live a holy life and be victorious.
