Hold your tongue

 

“And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set in fire by hell.” - James 3:6 

 

Tongue is an important organ in our body. It is a small organ. Yet it has many uses. For eating and tasting, it makes our body and mind happy. Most importantly for speaking and singing. But sometimes it turns into fire. Which is, speaking unwanted words and hurt others or worse it separates relationships. We worship God with this tongue. Yet we curse others with the same tongue. Is it acceptable to curse others and worship God with the same tongue? No for sure. Instead, it will sorrow God and stain our soul. That is, our whole body will be stained by the unwanted words we speak with our tongue. It will hurt others like a sword.

 

Let us listen to what we speak. What kind of words come out of our mouth? The Bible warns "Let no corrupt communication proceeds out of your mouth". So, let us learn to choose words more wisely and patiently. Our enraged words are capable to destroy us along with others. Tongue can set ln fire the course of nature. So, let us learn to hold our tongue. Firstly, we need some control over what we taste. We should only eat healthy and good food. If we over eat it is called as gluttony. It will stain us. 

 

Lastly, Bible says "A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver" and "death and life are in the power of the tongue". So, it is good to speak where you should be and remain calm where you shouldn't be speaking. So, let us be extremely careful of the power of our tongue. And increase our life span.
