Good soldier
“You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.” - 2 Timothy 2:3
An evangelist named Yun was imprisoned because he was sharing the gospel. He was tortured there. He was attacked as his mouth was bleeding. Due to internal injuries his face was dark and swollen and unidentifiable. His hands were after reddish due to the cold weather in the prison. Skin from his wrist was torn due to the right-hand cuffs. One day he cried to God, and he remembered a verse from the Bible, "The Lord of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge.” (Psalms 46:11). This verse encouraged him and gave new strength. Through this God gave him strength to endure all the sufferings. Lot of people were saved through him.
We can see about a young man named Stephen. He was serving God as he was a deacon. God did mighty things through Stephen. Few people saw Stephen preaching and arranged people to bear false witness against him. They took him out of their village and stoned him to death. But Stephen pleaded God to forgive those who were throwing stones at him saying "Lord do not charge them with this sin". A young man named Saul was with those who were throwing stones at Stephen. God changed Saul to Paul and used him as a tool to share the Gospel throughout Asia.
My dear! Our work or trial which we do for God will never be in vain. That day Yun bled for Christ. Stephen died as the first martyr for Christ. What are we doing today? What will we do? Think and do accordingly.
