Famine for the word of the Lord

 

“Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord.” – Amos 8:11 

 

We have seen famine in many countries. But God warns about the famine for the word of God.

 

If there is a famine it will affect our body. But if there is a famine for the word of the lord, the inner man will be weakened and will lose the eternal life at last. 

 

That's why Jesus said in his preaching "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeded out of the mouth of God" (Matthew 4:4). Prophet Jeremiah said " Thy words were found, and I eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O Lord God of hosts" (Jeremiah15:16). Jeremiah says that he ate the word of God like a food. Famines are caused by rain or wars. But famine for the word of God is dangerous.  

 

In the past years there was a lockdown due to corona virus. We might have thought that it was the famine for the Word of God as the churches were under lockdown. But God made us to listen to the Word of God through social media, wasn't He? But unlike this, there will be a time in which there will be a scarcity for the word of God. 

 

My dear youth! If we train ourselves in listening to the word of God and testing it, it will be easy to face any kind of famine. Let us fill our hearts with the word of God, so that we can protect ourselves and our neighborhood from satan, who tries to prevent us from inheriting the blessings by disturbing our prayer which is relationship between us and God. Shall we fill our children's hearts with the word of God and fertilize their souls. Let us create disciples for Christ!
