Incomparable Glory

 

“I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us” - Romans 8:18

 

There was a water scarcity in a village, people have to walk for 2 miles to fetch water. In that village a father told his two sons "There is a big treasure in our backyard". They returned from their job and started digging. They got nothing after digging for a while. Their father said, "Dig deeper to get the treasure" and encouraged them. They dug through the rocks and the villagers laughed at them. The two brothers didn’t mind that, and they carried out that their father told them to do. One day they saw a spring and the water tasted good. That spring gave them water for a long time and also happiness. They forgot the struggles they went through to get the water. 

 

Paul says in Romans 8: 17, 18 "if indeed we share in his sufferings", "our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us". If the runner keeps his eyes on the prize and runs the race, the distance will appear shorter. Likewise in Revelations, victorious will inherit the glory of the churches that came out victorious over the sufferings. It will appear that we can go to any extreme sufferings to get that glory. When we are broken or out through unbearable sufferings, we should think of these Bible verses "No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; He will not let you tempt beyond what you can bear". Everyone in this world will have suffering. Get a hold of Christ in order to be victorious. If we overcome the world like Jesus did, we will be glorified like He did (John 16:33)

 

For those who are reading this, you might be in lot of sufferings. Accept that and run patiently towards the goal, inherit the eternal glory. If we keep that in mind it will cheer us and strengthen us to bear our sufferings. Amen!
