Protect by fencing

 

“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” - Proverbs 4:23

 

There were two farmers, and they were best friends. They planned to sow tomatoes in their field and started it the next day. Plants started growing, first farmer fenced around his field and removed the weeds often. Second farmer made fun of the first one by saying "Isn't watering enough? why do you want to fence around your field?". Both of them had lots of tomatoes in their fields and are ready to be harvested. Second farmer often tells the first farmer " see I didn’t put fence around my field, didn’t remove the weed, but still my field is ready to be harvested! You wasted your time and money by putting fence and removing weed". They said tomorrow let us harvest all the tomatoes and went home. They came with bags to harvest the tomatoes the next day. The tomatoes in the unfenced garden were harvested already and it was dirty. My dear youth! Bible says, "Guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it". How do we guard our heart? Keep the word of God in your heart, and guard yourselves during problems and tough situations. People will mock us when obey God and walk away from sin and love God. If you look at these people's lives it will be organized and good on the outside but that is an unfenced life. 

 

We can see two characters in the Bible namely Joseph and Simson. Joseph protected his holiness by obeying God and put-up fence from sin. He was lifted high not only in front of God but also men. But Simson lost his holiness and became a plaything in front of people. If we live a life filled with worldly pleasures and it brings all the blessings, it will bring disaster at the end. Like that tomato field, we have fruit bearing period. It will be joyful only if we protect our life by putting fence using the word of God, or else end will not be good. So, ignore the mockery of others and protect your souls. Live like good fruit bearing trees! Amen.
