Price

 

“…you were bought at a price…” – 1Corinthians 6:20

 

A little boy made a boat out of bamboo sticks, and he kept it safely in his home. Every day after returning from school he will play with the boat for some time in a river which runs behind his home. One day while he was playing his boat, his boat was swept away by sudden flood.

 

One day he saw his boat in a shop and he pleaded the shopkeeper to give it back. But the shopkeeper denied saying that he will give if he is willing to pay. He came home took all the money he had in his little piggy bank and bought the boat back. While returning he kissed the boat and said you are mine in two ways, I created you and i bought you for a price. 

 

In the Bible Jesus Christ spoke a similar parable in Mathew 18:10-13. A shepherd had 100 sheep and one day one sheep was lost. He left all the 99 sheep and went in search of that one sheep, he didn’t stop till he finds the sheep. On finding the sheep he happily carried it on his shoulders and came back.

 

My dears! We are also like this one lost sheep. God created us breathed life into us and created us to worship Him. But we are swept away by the pleasures of the world. Like the little boy's boat, we were separated from God. But God had loved us very dearly, so he came down from heaven to earth. He paid the price by shedding all his blood on the cross. Since the little boy bought the boat for price it appeared very special to him, in the same way God bought us with a price so we are very special and priceless to Him we should not forget this and humble ourselves under His mighty hands. Amen!
