Higher standard of judgment

 

“My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment.” – James 3:1

 

Famous Billy Graham was the spokesperson in a meeting in which over 10000 pastors and religious leaders had gathered. During the meeting he shared few incidents from his personal experience. He said, "Whenever I stand before a crowd to deliver a sermon my knees will tremble." It is not because I don't know to deliver a sermon, but for the opportunity God has given for an unqualified guy to deliver a sermon in His ministry, I will do it with humbleness.

 

The biggest job in this world is to serve the Lord Who created the heavens and the earth. Those who are doing the ministry should know to give their absolute best. Prince of preachers Charles Spurgeon warns “Even the sinner who is not turned to God after hearing the gospel will receive the judgment, but we should be aware of the harshest judgment received by the preacher." Nowadays lot of preachers who deliver sermons speaks whatever they want when they are in the pulpit, and they are daring to as that God spoke this to them. That is why James in his letter warns don’t be so eager to become a teacher in the church since you know that we who teach are held to a higher standard of judgment".

 

Apostle Paul writes on his letter to the church of Corinth "We do not preach on our own, we preach what God has told us." My dear beloved in Christ serving God is good but it should be on guidance of God. A preacher once said, "Serving the lord should be done by the guidance of God". Whatever I speak cannot be a sermon, "Without personal prayer, devotion if a preacher starts his sermon, his sermon reeks with death" said Leonard Raven hill. Preachers of the gospel should do so carefully. Our God is a burning fire so tremble and rejoice in HIs presence.
