Friendship
“…he (Jonathan) loved him (David) as his own soul.” – 1 Samuel 18:3
Two best friends were playing on the roof and the ring ball fell on the slab. They provoked each other saying " the height of this slab from the ground is less, I can jump from here and land unscathed, you can’t do this because this is for strong people, and you are scared". They agreed to jump from that slab on the count of 3 with eyes closed. As soon as they counted, one of the friends jumped and broke injured her spine. But the other one was standing on the slab and watching her friend who is in pain. Tricks of the devil are also similar.
"Man, who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful" why this is written in the Bible? In the garden of Eden Eve listened to words of the devil, disobeyed God, ate the fruit of the forbidden tree and became a reason for the entire humanity to fall into sin. 1Kings:13 "A man of God believed the lie told by another prophet and disobeyed God and he was eaten by a lion". So, we should be very careful and live our lives by obeying God.
My dear children, we can see the friendship between David and Jonathan in 1Samuel 18-20. Jonathan's soul was with David. He loved David as if he was his own soul, gave everything he had to David, protected from his father's hand and did lot of favors for David. Good friends will correct us when we are about to do evil, will be with us in hard times. So, we should choose Jesus as our best friend, and we should be one with him and share our happiness and sadness with him. If we do that Jesus will remove all our hardships and sufferings and help us to live a happy life.
