Faithful prayer    

 

“…faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” - Hebrews 11:1

 

About 30 years ago, I entered 10th standard eagerly like everyone. Our family belonged to an economically weaker section. One day I asked my father "Is there any way to uplift our family economically? What should I do for that? My father told me that “Get good marks in 10th standard and do polytechnic then get a good job and you can change our situation." I started to study well. Since we don't have electricity in our home. I had to sit under the streetlight to study. I wrote my final exams, and I did the calculations based on the questions. I answered and got a total of around 380. I said this to my father he said, “You will get a job in a xerox shop or textile shop." 

 

In my neighborhood I saw an old woman of different religion calling out the name "Jesus" What is this she is calling out Jesus more often in whatever she did I wondered and asked her "Why are you calling out Jesus always?" She said, "I was about to die due to sickness and doctors said I'm beyond help then a lady prayed to Jesus, and He healed me." I was amazed and asked her "Will Jesus help me too?" That old woman said yes, and she took me to a sister because she didn't know to pray. That sister prayed for me, and I believed that Jesus will do that for me. The results were published, I was surprised to see that I got 420 like my father wanted and my prayers have been answered too. I got admission in a polytechnic college and got a job in a company that produces electricity from windmill. God helped me to accept Jesus as my Savior and now I am doing ministry on weekends. 

 

My dear youngsters, if we trust in God and ask whatever we want to Him He will definitely answer our prayers. In Hebrews 11:1 it is said that "… faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Lot of you might have written your public exams. Put your faith in God and ask his help, He will give you good marks and admission in a good college. Not only that whatever the situation in your life grabs a hold of Jesus. The God who blessed me and lifted me up will surely lift you too.
