Don't resist evil

 

“…not to resist an evil…” – Matthew 5:39 

 

If we see the news recently, it is scary to see where are the youths headed to? College girls for silly reasons grab the hair of each other and fights in public places and bus stands. Their friends don't stop the fight; instead, they shoot the video and spread them on social media. The hard part is that college girls are beating each other and grabbing each other’s hair and fighting aggressively. They lack the mindset to give up on silly things. They are eager to see who is the best. This situation of this generation is dangerous. 

 

In Mathew 5 Jesus explains how the characteristics of a basic Christian should be. His teachings are wonderful, and we need them for our daily lives. Jesus says "don't resist an evil person (Matthew 5:39)". In Joseph's life bad things happened by his own brothers but he didn't go against them instead he was patient. Jesus teaches that "If someone slaps you in your left cheek show them the other". The meaning of this statement is “We should be calm and patient against those who do evil against us". 

 

My dear readers, we shouldn't forget the responsibility that we have in our hand. The evil against us will not come from a neighboring country or a person we haven't met, but from our friends, neighbors and those who are with us. We have to be silent and patient, that is what the Bible teaches us. We have to teach this to our younger generation. "Today's youths tomorrow's leaders" and we should teach the students to meditate on the Bible. We have to stop them from fighting with their friends with for silly reasons. Let’s shape the youths to have a mentality of giving up on unwanted silly things.
