Are you Abigail?

 

“Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools” – Ecclesiastes 7:9 

 

A couple with their two daughters lived in Kozhikode. Husband is an alcoholic and short tempered. He will be angry on his family for silly reasons. One day he came home drunk, found his family listening to a Christian message being telecasted on the radio about the effects of alcohol. He got angry and broke the radio. His wife and children were heart broken, but they were silent. There was some kindness left in his heart, so he bought a new radio the next day and started listening to Christian programs. He started to believe in Jesus Christ and accepted Jesus Christ and his Savior. What a surprise! The closer he came to Jesus, farther he became from alcohol addiction. 

 

We can read in the Bible (1 Sam. 25:33) Nabal's wife Abigail is an intelligent woman, but Nabal is surly. Nabal received protection from David he did bad things to David. Nabal said " who is David?" On hearing this David went with 400 men against Nabal. Abigail heard this from her servant and acted instantly. She prevented David's hand from shedding blood by her humbleness and kind speech (1 Sam. 25: 33)

 

Dear youngsters, you know how bad anger is. If the wife was angry at her husband when he came home drunk may be the family may be shattered. Instead, she was patient, and her husband was redeemed. If Abigail was silent thinking " this worthless man brought this on himself" maybe she also would have died with him. But Abigail thought wisely and acted instantly and calmed David's anger and also David blessed her. So, try to be like that Abigail who can calm down anger.
