Zeal for the Lord

 

“..It is good to be zealous in a good thing always” - Galatians 4:18

 

When apostle Paul waited for Silas and Timothy at Athenes, his spirit was provoked within him when he saw that the city was given over to idols. So he preached to the Athenians Jesus and the resurrection. We read that when they heard his preaching some of them joined him and believed. 

 

In our day-to-day life, we could see idol’s temples everywhere. We behold the people thronging to worship idols in the hope of receiving good things. On seeing the idol worshippers, have we ever got provoked in our hearts? Have we ever tried to bring them to Jesus? Have we ever told them about Jesus? Do we have a zeal for the Lord? We should be burdened for the salvation of lost souls. We being many are one body in Christ, and we are expected to work in unity and lead a true Christian life. 

 

In the name of Christ, how many divisions and denominations do we have? Of course, it is good to be zealous in a good thing always. Schism, in Christianity is a break in the unity of the church. The spilt causes our faith to wane. We cannot be zealous for the divisions and disunity among us. Instead let us be zealous for the Lord. Elijah declares, “I have been very zealous for the Lord God of hosts”. Can we give such statement? Let us have a feeling of gusto and enthusiasm to win souls for Christ. Let us stoke our zeal for doing ministry. The zeal for spreading the gospel must be our great aim. Let us plant the seed of the gospel and help build the kingdom of God on Earth. Let us have faith in one God and father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.
