Lifestyle

 

“Do not love the world or the things in the world.” - 1 John 2:15

 

Lifestyle is the way in which a person lives. An individual’s manner of walking, dressing, his customs and fashion become his lifestyle. Advances in communication, technology and computer networking have brought world in the palm of our hands. The desire of youths to impress the others had turned their lives upside down. Let us see the impact of some matters in the lives of youngsters.

 

Communication: Youths consider that they are respectable only if they own a smart phone and an email ID. A few people only use mobile phones for necessity and urgency. But most of us use it only to chat or play video game. The Bible says, “Too much talk leads to sin.” So, beware of the expensive mobile phone purchased for showy display that can drift us to unholiness.

  

Recreation: Our precious time is wasted on entertainment such as watching programs on T.V, browsing, listening to modern music and making merry at night feasts. Although the educational websites are very useful for students and internet a powerful source of knowledge, they have become a pornographic net that is spread to ensnare us. So, let us be vigilant.

 

Fashion: Clothing worn by a person is a tool that reflects his or her mindset. We shall be valued by the decent attire we wear. Girl’s apparel should never be provocative or a hindrance. All things are lawful, but all things are not helpful and all things do not edify. (1Corinthians 10:23)

 

Beloved young men and women, Let, us ask ourselves the following three questions when we change our lifestyle to cope with time,

1.Will this please God?

2.Will it be a hindrance to anyone?

3.Will it be a waste of money and time?

 

Time changes and lifestyle may change. But the Lord God whom we worship is the same forever. He expects us to be as holy as He desired earlier from our ancestors. So, let us lead a holy life that is uncorrupted by the modern lifestyle and bring glory to God.
