Faith

 

“But without faith it is impossible to please Him...” - Hebrews 11:6

 

Meena belonged to a fisherman’s family living close to the sea and their lives depended on fishing. Meena regularly attended Sunday class and grew in faith in Christ. One day her father went fishing off the boat to the sea with the other fishermen. But her father did not turn up. They waited for a few days. Then the people lost their hope of his return. So they came to Meena’s house to mourn and comfort the family. But Meena pinned her hope on Jesus and waited anxiously for her father’s return. What a surprise! Her father who was missing and feared dead returned home safely. God had honored her faith.

 

Rahab was a harlot. Joshua sent two men to spy Jericho secretly. Rahab received the spies with peace. The King sent his men to bring the spies out. But Rahab hid them and later on let them down by a rope through the window. She requested them to spare her and her family from destruction. As a mark, she bound the scarlet cord in the window. By faith the walls of Jericho fell down and by faith the harlot Rahab did not perish with those who did not believe. She was named among the heroes of faith. Moreover she was spotlighted in the lineage of Jesus.

 

Beloved, do we have perfect faith on God? Do we receive miracles when we pray with faith? In the book of Hebrews we find the list of heroes of faith and we are inspired by them. Through faith they subdued kingdoms. Some were tortured and others had trials of mocking and scourging. Yes, the genuineness of our faith being much more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire may be found to praise, honor and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ. So let us hold firmly to our faith. For sure we shall receive miracles.
