Darling, listen

 

“As the elect of God, holy and beloved put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, long suffering;” – Colossians 3:12

 

Beauty was the name of the young girl and her name suited her so well as she was a paragon of beauty and grace. She derived pleasure in adding charm to her beauty. Right from morning she was busy enhancing her appearance with make up as she had to participate in the cultural program. She wished to draw everyone’s attention and to be the cynosure of all eyes by using cosmetics like kajal eye liner for her magnetic eyes and kajal lipstick. At that time, she heard the feeble voice of her mother calling her. Ignoring her earnest call for help, she left for college with a hardened heart. Her mother who was sick in bed, was the one, out of compassion adopted her when she lost her parents and was left all alone as a baby in a few months. She participated in the beauty contest and won the prize. When she returned home with the prize, she could notice people gathered at her house. Her mother was no more. She gazed at her mother’s corpse. She could not control herself. She recollected how she took good care of her and how she showered love and affection and brought her up as her own daughter. She was in despair at the loss of her mother who was the only support for her. She felt guilty for not attending to her call for help. She felt forlorn. It was too late to regret. Past is past. Can her mother re-come to life? 

 

Beloved, what is considered as beauty? Does real beauty depend on fair complexion, trending fashion wears and enhanced beauty with make-up? No. The outward appearance may look appealing. But if the heart which is seen by God is ugly with dirt and filth, it is of no use.

 

Nowadays it is a common incident to see people shutting their ears to the cry of the poor, turning the faces to the seekers of help, neglecting the aged, disregarding the parents and rejecting the counsel of elders. There is a vast difference between the children of God and the children of flesh. We the children of God must clothe ourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ and be meek and lowly in heart and show love and compassion for others without looking for our own interests. The inner beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit is very precious in God’s sight and it brings glory to God. So, let us not live to ourselves but live to the Lord.
