Run ahead

 

“Do not remember the former things, not consider the things of old.” – Isaiah 43:18

 

Once, a certain man was climbing a tall tower. He had aerophobia, which is an intense fear and anxiety of heights. He was climbing up just to drive away his fear. But he ought to have focused ahead and gone further. But he looked down to find out how high he had climbed. That was the end of him. As he looked down from the top of the tower, he felt dizzy and nervous. He lost his balance tolerance and fell down dead.

 

Often, we do remember and relive the events happened in the past and we are inactive without advancing. But the Bible clearly states “Do not remember the former things nor consider the things of old. I will do a new thing” (Isaiah 43:18,19). If we contemplate on the past without obeying the word of God, how can we inherit the new life and new blessing in store for us?

 

Lot’s wife stands as the best example for looking back with longing. The Lord was merciful to bring her out and set her out of the city. But Lot’s wife was disobedient and she turned back to see the destruction and see became the pillar of salt.

 

Let us introspect ourselves. Let us surrender ourselves to God if we had dwelt on the past and got stuck. Let us forget all about the worldly things that were left behind. Forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead. Let us march forward. Let us run ahead, let to receive new things.
