Loyalty and exaltation
“He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much;” – Luke 16:10
American civil war was at its peak in 1862. In that war Robert E. Lee’s army was fighting to capture the parts of North America. Colonel Hayes was defending his country with his army and retaliated. As the battle was fierce, the soldiers were starving and losing their energy. During that intense battle, MC Kinley who was assigned to supply food to his regiments boldly came into the thick of the fighting and provided food and water to the men on the battel field. Kinley who was 19 years old risking his life, courageously served them food on time and the army men were rejuvenated. On hearing the valor and bravery of Kinley, Colonel Hayes promoted him to second Lieutenant in recognition of his service The Colonel Rutherford Hayes was the 19th President of America. William McKinley, the 25th President of the Unite States was none other than Kinley rendered timely help to the army men by feeding them.
Rutherford Hayes had commended William McKinley saying, “Although Kinley was very young, he labored day and night untiringly to accomplish the task assigned to him unmindful of cold, rain or storm. Being duty bound Kinley carried out his mission dexterously on time. David the shepherd was tending his father’s sheep faithfully. Whenever a lion or bear came and took a lamb from the flock, David went after it Knocked it down and rescued the lamb. He was loyal and so he was exalted to the rank of a king.
The mission assigned to us may be petty or insignificant. Sometimes the sincere efforts taken and the hard work done faithfully and perfectly will go unnoticed or unrecognized. The study revealed that Indians are the most hardworking workforce around the world. But they are not given due distinction in their workplace. Not taking anything into account, let us continue to persevere, having in mind that we are watched by the Lord Almighty. As Paul says, “Whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men.” Let us not be men pleasers who do eye service. If we are faithful, we shall be acknowledged by God our heavenly Master.
