What time is set aside for me?

 

“What! Could you not watch with Me one hour?” – Matthew 26:40

 

A certain husband was conversing with his wife. The husband said sadly, “You are always busy. You hardly spend time with me. You are either at the office or at home engrossed in attending office calls and working on the laptop. You never think about my needs, desires and my wellbeing. You go away telling me your need in two lines.” But the wife was indifferent and without showing any emotion, she continued with her work. 

 

Yes, the depth of the intimacy in the relationship of a husband and wife depends on the time spent together. According to the Bible, we the believers in Christ Jesus, are the brides of Christ! How much time do we spend with our Bridegroom every day? A tenth of everything is the Lord’s. If we really introspect, we find that it is difficult for us to set aside even an hour for God daily.

 

Next comes our family. Nowadays people are so busy that they hardly find time to spend with the family. The fellowship with the members of the family is just in the social system. In the family life strife and bitterness increase and love, joy and peace are missing. Gone are those days when all the members of the family dined together and shared the joys and sorrows and had lively interaction. Such experiences built the relationships between husband and wife. World news and latest international updates are possible on the internet. But we are ignorant of what is going on in our family.

 

Beloved, The Lord God puts forth a question to us, “What time is kept for me?” Today how are we going to spend our time? The Bible says that we should give the things that are God’s to God and that are family’s to family. Then for sure our life shall abound with joy. Let us set aside particular time for our fellowship with God.
