This is enough
“Godliness with contentment is great gain” – 1 Thimothy 6:6
A certain sculptor began to sculpt a figure from a big stone.
He was working in scorching heat as the hot sun was above his head. He murmured saying, “What is this life? I am with a chisel in my hand always and chip away at the stone forever.” He thought that it would be fine if he got a better job and an easy work with more income. At that time the king of the country was coming on horse. On seeing him he exclaimed “How nice it would be if I were a king!” What a pleasant surprise! At once the sculptor changed into a king. The sculptor was riding on the horse like the king. He felt the extreme heat of the radiant sun. He thought that the sun was greater than a king. At once he turned into the sun.
When he was shining as the sun, a big could appeared in the sky and it poured down heavy rain. The rainwater washed away everything that was on its way. But only a stone remained in its place without being moved by the strong flow of rainwater. Then the sculptor was so sure that the stone was the strongest as it was unmoved. No sooner did he think about it than he became a stone. Another sculptor came with a chisel and a hammer and began to chip away at the stone. At that moment he came to a conclusion that the work of the sculptor was the most excellent one. He accepted the work and the position given by God to him with contentment.
In the Holy Bible, apostle Paul writes in his epistle that, “Godliness with contentment is great gain.” He stresses the importance of being satisfied with what we have. We find in the epistle of Apostle Paul the following advice that we must be satisfied with what we have. It is written, “Godliness with contentment is great gain.”
Beloved readers, we must be thankful to God for what we have. Happiness comes from contentment. God has bestowed so many blessings on us namely job, talents, family, relatives and so on. Everything is given according to the measure of Christ’s gift. That measure is sufficient for us. Why should we fix our eye on unreceived articles? Let us with a thankful God accept whatever blessings bestowed on us with contentment. Then we shall be filled with many other unexpected blessings. We are to be content, whatever state we are in. Amen!
