A glass of milk

“She has done what she could…” - Mark14:8

In today’s devotion, we read about a woman who poured costly oil on the head of Jesus. She was criticized sharply for her deed by the people around her. But Jesus commended her saying, “She has done a good work for me.’ ’It was a very costly oil named spikenard. The woman regarded Jesus as a very precious person and so she did it out of love and reverence.
 
Let us reflect on our lives. Can Jesus testify about us and say that we are doing good deeds? Are we doing as much as we can for God? Let us ponder.  Sometimes we many think that it is impossible for us to do. But some good deeds can be performed by everyone namely feeding the hungry, clothing the needy, giving free notebooks, taking free tuition and visiting the sick and comforting them.

A certain lady saw a boy who was hungry and weary. She felt that the boy would faint of hunger. So, she brought him a large glass of milk. She also stated that she was taught by her mother to show kindness to others. After drinking that big glass of milk, the boy felt stronger physically and his faith in God was strong. Many years later, the same lady became critically ill. She was admitted to a big private hospital. She knew that she had to spend all her savings for the treatment. On the day of her discharge, she feared to open the bill. When she opened it, something caught her attention on the side of the bill. She read the following words, “Paid in full with one glass of milk’’. Then she was informed that the doctor in the hospital was none other than the lad who   was given a glass of milk. Tears of joy flooded her eyes
 
Yes, beloved in Christ, with the measure we use, it will be measured back to us. So let us do good works with pleasure. Whatever our hand finds to do, let us do it with all our might and heartily.
