The God who sees

“…she called the name of the Lord who spoke to her, you are the God who sees;” - Genesis 16:13

A sculptor was assigned a task from a magnificent church in France. He was asked to sculpter from the white marble and depicts the wedding scene of Cana, where Jesus performed His first miracle. The sculptor carved the pictures day and night without slumber. His son observed him closely and the sculptor accomplished his task perfectly. Later when the sculptor and his son went to that church, they found the sculpture kept 20 feet high. At once the son asked his father, if the sculpture was to be displayed very high, he could have carved an ordinary one. But the sculptor patted him on his shoulder saying, “Dear son, I do not mind whether people see the sculpture or not, but God watches it always and I accomplished the work assigned to me with my whole heart.”           

As Sarai was barren, she gave her maid Hagar to Abraham. When Hagar conceived, Sarai became despised in her maid’s eyes. Thus, she dealt with her harshly.  Unable to bear her ill treatment, she fled from mistress presence. The angel of the lord found her in wilderness by the spring on the way to Shur. She called the name of the Lord who spoke to her, “You are the God who sees;” for she said, “Have I here seen him who sees me.’’

Yes, beloved ones, we may be afflicted as there is none to take care of us. We may be in grief and sorrow. We may be troubled not knowing how to get over the existing circumstances. The God, who saw Hagar, sees us now. Men may humiliate and belittle us but the Lord who never forsakes us can work out great things with us too. Just as God promised to Hagar, He multiplied Hagar’s descendants exceedingly. Likewise, His plan for our life is great. Let us wait patiently keeping in mind that the Lord God is watching us. Let us submit ourselves under his powerful hands. God can perform greater things in our lives.
