Would you like to be a friend of Jesus? 

“…I have called you friends…?” – John 15:15

A desperate cry for help was heard from the forest area. The man yelled saying, “Is there anyone to lift me up from the deep pit? Help me otherwise I shall die soon.” A good-natured man passed that way and the man’s scream echoed in his ears. He took pity on him. Risking his own life, he rescued the wailing man from the pit. Thus, both of them became friends.   

They often met and had a lively chat. Anyhow the man who was lifted from the pit would not continue his friendship with the helper because the thoughts, words and deeds of the kind man were totally different from his way of life. Thus, he withdrew from his friend. He lost the friendship of a true friend. In the Holy Bible we find that king Saul could not maintain his fellowship with the prophet Samuel. The reason was that Samuel’s heart yearned to obey God’s commandments but Saul’s heart longed to please men. So, Samuel departed from Saul.                  

Beloved, to sustain good friendship, our hearts must be knitted together closely with our friends. Otherwise, our relationship will not last longer. Once we were under the slavery of sins. The death of Jesus on the cross and His resurrection set us free from all sins. Thus, we have become his friends. If we desire to keep up our fellowship with Jesus, our hearts must go well with Jesus heart. If we desire to maintain our friendship with God, we have to shun what all displeases Him. Let us keep up our fellowship with Christ Jesus in every possible way. We must never lose our intimacy with God at any cost. We are unworthy to deserve the best friend Jesus.
