Forcing 

“…the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.” – Matthew 11:12 

George Muller was an evangelist and he founded orphanages and served as a missionary in Bristol, England. Once George Muller, the man of God was on board the captain of the ship was a friend of Muller. The ship was sailing smoothly without impediment. Suddenly the captain could not steer the ship due to dense fog. Muller went up to the captain and said, “I have come to tell you that I must be in Quebec on Saturday afternoon. But the captain of the ship retorted saying, “It is impossible. Do you know how dense the fog is?” 

But Muller affirmed saying, “My eye is not in the density of the fog, but on the living God who controls every circumstance of my life.” Then he got down on his knees and prayed with the captain. Having finished the forceful prayer, he told the captain to open the door. The fog was gone. Muller reached America on time. Muller asked believing and holding on to God’s omnipotence. Thus, his prayer was answered.

In the Holy Bible we read about a widow who was persistent had received God’s grace. The unjust judge who lacked compassion was repeatedly approached by the importunate woman. Although her demands were rejected initially, eventually she got justice as her request was persistent. We need to pray resolutely. 

In the book of Genesis, we find Jacob, our forefather wrestling with God all night. He was so persistent and he would not let Him go unless God blessed him. He struggled with God and prevailed and thus God blessed him. When we pray relentlessly with faith, we receive what we ask for. Jesus says, we have to storm heaven with our faith and claim what is ours. Let us pray persistently and wrestle with God in our prayer and receive what we desire. Above all let us strive hard and pray persistently to receive God’s grace to enter the Kingdom of God.
