Good if you are rejected
“Do not be grieved or angry with yourselves… For God sent me before you to preserve life” - Genesis 45:5
When Nelson Mandela was the President of South Africa, he happened to go to a restaurant with his companions and soldiers. His soldiers noticed a man who was sitting at a table in front of them and eating with fear and with trembling hands. The soldiers informed the President about his flight. Mandela recognized the man very well. With a gentle smile he explained to his soldiers, “That man was a guard in the prison where I was jailed. He used to torture me every day. After the torture, I would be tired and weak. Whenever I asked for a little water to quench my thirst, he used to urinate on my head. Now as I am the President now, he is trembling out of fear in case I take vengeance on him. But that is not my trait.” Mandela looked at him, gave a chuckle and left the restaurant.
In the Holy Bible we find Joseph being sold for twenty shekels of silver by his own brothers. Then he was thrown into the jail because of the false accusation of the wife of Potiphar. But in the due time, he was exalted to the highest position of the governor of Egypt. The famine was severe in all lands and unaware of Joseph being the governor, his brothers went down to Egypt to buy grains. Joseph recognized his brothers. He did not think of rejecting or humiliating or avenging them for the evil they had done to him. Instead, he provided for them and their little ones and comforted them and spoke kindly to them. He returned good for evil by preserving their life.
It may be a nation or an individual. But their progress is not possible if they hold vengeance and grudges. We can establish an empire if we are cordial and affable. Joseph possessed such quality of being amiable. Beloved, we need not grieve or worry, if we are rejected. Only the valuable things will be rejected as all cannot afford to pay for it. Our Lord will exalt us if we get rid of all the evil feelings of taking revenge and holding grudges.
