Power of the bended knee
“I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.” – Mark 11:24
A certain missionary went to the missionary field assigned to him and began his ministry with zeal and enthusiasm. Months passed and years rolled by but the people seemed to be unwilling to listen and pay heed to the gospel. He found them to be so stubborn and rebellious. They turned a deaf ear to the gospel. They continued to live as their heart desired. He worried that the ministry done with heart and soul was futile and he could not win souls for Christ. Being dejected, he came to the other part of the city. There he saw a man who was breaking huge, stones. He was breaking the rocks with a sledge hammer. He enquired the man how it was possible for him to breakdown such a strong stone? The man replied saying, “It is a tough job. When I find it very difficult, I kneel down and cut it. When I bend my knee, I find it easier to cut it.” The missionary understood that God was speaking to him through the stranger. From then onwards he went down on his knees for hours in prayer and he was victorious in his ministry. Yes, prayer is the secret of victory.
In the Holy Bible, we come across victorious prayer warriors namely Daniel, Elijah, Paul and Esther. When we pray pouring out our heart with tears, we receive strength and grace. Are you weary of facing series of defeats? Do you regret over not seeing spiritual revival after putting in more efforts? Bend your knee. Fruitfulness is ultimately the work of God. Victory belongs to Jesus. It is God who gives us increase. Wisdom may fail, but the fervent prayer on knees can achieve everything. Why should we seek counseling of people when our children are problematic and if they go astray from God? We must go down on our knees in prayer unseen by others. The Lord who sees in secret will answer our tearful prayer.
We may be doing God’s ministry for years. If there is lack of fruit, we need not groan. Let us believe that our labors are not vain in the Lord. Our bended knee in prayer will surely reap the fruit of the faithful labor.
