Is there any benefit?
“…we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works…” - Ephesians 2:10
In the name of Christ Jesus, I greet all of you who listen to the stories telecast in Children’s special on Sundays. Shall we go round a jungle today? What could be seen in a forest? Yes, we can see variety of plants and different species of trees, lovely flowers of various colours, birds and animals. Isn’t it? Yes, are you happy and anxious to hear what the banyan tree and the mango tree are going to say?
In that forest there stood a huge and tall banyan tree. The cool shade of the huge tree could offer shelter and shade to men and animals. But the banyan tree used to shed its withered leaves on the persons who came to rest under its shade and chased them away. Thinking that it was the suitable tree for building nests, a flock of birds came but the banyan tree used harsh words and chased them saying, “Go away you are a nuisance by twittering all the time. You should not make your nests here.” Thus, the banyan tree was prideful and arrogant and not beneficial to anyone. All the birds built their nests in the mango tree. The mango tree was so friendly with them that they lived together happily and had a nice time.
But the banyan tree envied them. It could not tolerate their friendship. It shouted at them saying, “Why are you making a hell of noise? I am fret to hear your chirping?” One day a swarm of bees flew towards the banyan tree. It drove them away saying that it could not bear their trouble. So, they made their hive in the mango tree. So, the birds and insects took refuge in the mango tree.
One day two woodcutters came to the forest and looked at the trees. On seeing the big bee-hive, they kept away from the mango tree. They began to cut down the banyan tree. The bees remarked that they were wise to fell the useless tree. But the mango tree said, “No, friends. We have to help our friend when it is in danger. It will be helpful hereafter.” So the honey bees flew in a swarm and stung the woodcutters and made them run for their lives. Then the banyan tree realised how selfish and useless it was. It thanked the mango tree saying, “I am alive because of your timely help in danger. I will be thankful and useful to everyone. I will welcome all who come to me for shelter.” All the birds and bees applauded the banyan tree cheerfully.
Kutties, we must be as helpful as the mango tree. Suppose, we have been like banyan tree so far, we should not hesitate to change our attitude. Ok? Be a happy helper and show a sample of your love. God bless you all.
