False statement
“Consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary in your souls.” – Hebrews 12:3
In our lives in the workplace or in the family we might have been falsely accused of the wrong we had not done and the words we had never uttered. But we need not worry about it. The Lord who has asserted, “In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” is with us.
All the chief priests and elders of the people plotted against Jesus and delivered Him to Pilate, the governor of Rome. They began to accuse Jesus falsely saying, “We found this fellow perverting the nation and forbidding paying taxes to Caesar.” In fact, Jesus clearly affirmed, “Render therefore to Caesar that things that are Caesar’s and to God the things that are God’s.” He went a step further and paid the taxes for Him and Peter. When the matter was so, the opposers suppressed the truth and gave false statement and made false accusation to Pilate. We can comfort ourselves remembering what Jesus says, “If they do these things in the green wood, what will be done in the dry?”
If our rivals revile, accuse and say all kinds of evil against us falsely, God will not let us down. We will not be forsaken. Look at Joseph and how he was accused falsely and put in prison though he was innocent. But Joseph was delivered by the Lord and exalted to the highest position. So let us not get discouraged by false accusations. Let us not become weary in our souls remembering Jesus who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself.
