Daily Devotion (English) – 15.02.2022 (God’s creation’s special)

Missile 

“…you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man…” – Colossians 3:9,10

Friends, let me see, if you can make out who I am. I am found on the river bank. Everyone likes to take me in their hand and feel me as I am smooth round and shiny. You can find me in your fish tank too. Above all, I got mentioned in the Holy Bible. Wow! You are correct! I am a pebble.

Shall I tell you my story? When I was born, I was not at all a pebble. I was in the form of a rock. When it rained heavily often with thunder and lightning, I broke into pieces. I got carried away with water. I rolled, I got dashed and hit with the flow of water and I was half-dead when I lay on the river bank. I was coarse and without form. As I had rough surface and sharp edge, I hurt and tore the foot of many people. One day when the river was on flood, once again I was carried away with the water. I rolled up and down in water and gradually my rough surface and sharp edge got worn out. There was a great transformation in me. Eventually, I turned into a smooth round and shiny pebble. At last, I lay quietly on the river bank. 

I saw a handsome and young lad coming near me. He picked me with delight and put me in a pouch in his shepherd’s bag. I couldn’t guess where I was taken and why. After sometime I heard the noise of people. The young lad took me out and he slung me and struck his enemy. When I was flung, I hit his forehead and sank comfortably into his forehead. The huge man fell on his face to the earth. There was shouting of victory. Then I came to know that the little hero was David and the giant who was killed with my help was Goliath.  Afterall I am a tiny stone. But for Goliath, I looked like a missile. I praised and thanked God for having used me to save and deliver the Israelites from the Philistines. 

Beloved listener of my story! Would you like to be used by God? If so, you had better surrender your coarse and sharp edge such as wrath, fret, envy, pride bitterness and zeal to God. He will crush, mould and transform you into a useful vessel by leading you through different situations. When an insignificant pebble like me is used by God, how much more will your Heavenly Father use you for carrying out His mission?
