The other side of infatuation

“Wait on the Lord; …wait, I say, on the Lord!” - Psalms 27:14 

The demand for roses is exceedingly high on this day. Yes, it is the long-awaited Valentine’s Day for teenagers and young persons. It is natural to feel attracted towards the members of the opposite sex. Just on seeing their facial expression, glamorous look and sensational chat instantly they come to a conclusion that they have found the best match for them. They are so innocent to fall in love at the first sight. Will this blind infatuation work out and be successful? No.

Suppose we go to a showroom for purchasing readymade clothes. We find readymade garments displayed on racks and stands. Will you select one at a glance and pay for it at once? No. we think twice before buying it. We consider the size, quality, price, material and the company’s name etc. before choosing one. Even though we are going to wear those clothes for a few months and discard them, we take trouble to select the best. If this is true, how careful one should be in choosing the life partner who is going to be with you throughout your life. Love at first sight can sustain only in cinemas and fairy tales, T.V serials and in one’s dream. Wrong choice of life partner will ruin the whole life. Christian partners cannot break the marriage covenant. So, it is wise to wait in the presence of God till the right person is identified through your parents or godly elders and well-wishers. Please do not ruin your future by indulging in the infatuation of the teenage.

We must be aware of the other side of the coin. Do you know that many young girls who are trafficked and forced into prostitution at brothel were sold out by their lovers? We cannot predict the true nature of anyone. It is no use crying over after your fall into the pit. Let us exercise self-control. Even a lifeless kite falls to the ground instead of flying high up in the sky when it is not in control. The relationship between a boy and a girl is referred as cotton and fire. So let us guard our hearts with godliness and fear of God.

Being a youth, set a goal in your life and focus on studies without being distracted by any other issue. Wait patiently for God’s timing. Adam was given Eve who was comparable to him. Likewise, you will be blessed with a suitable life partner in due time. You can celebrate Valentine’s Day with your spouse throughout your life.
