Daily Devotion (English) – 08.02.2022 (God’s creation’s special)

Again, and again 

“Of the Rock who begot you, you are unmindful, and have forgotten the God who fathered you” - Deuteronomy 32:18 

When the children of Israel, the whole congregation came into the wilderness of Sin, there was no water for them. The multitudes of men, children, flocks, herds and a great deal of livestock were parched and dying of thirst. They complained against Moses and contended with him. Being hurt by their hurling of insults, Moses prostrated himself before God and cried out to God. 

God commanded him to take the rod and gather the congregation and speak to me. But instead of speaking, Moses lifted his hand and struck me twice with the rod and I gave them water abundantly and quenched the thirst of people and animals. But I felt panicked as trusted Moses and my expectation from him was high. I was disappointed on seeing him disobeying the direct command of God. He failed to trust Him enough to honor Him as Holy in the eyes of the children of Israel. The Israelites angered Moses and they rebelled against him and thus he spoke rashly with his lips. 

I bore the pain and yielded my water to keep God’s promise. But my heart ached to see the leader of the Israelites. He was faithful in His entire house as a servant. He was the meekest man on earth. Moses had seen the glory and form of the Lord and God spoke mouth to mouth with him. The Lord knew him face to face. He accomplished God’s visions and plans with discernment and obedience. But Alas! He could not enter the Promised Land because of his wrath. 

At times you may belittle or hurt the Lord who is our eternal rock, by your words and deeds. Are you worthy of God’s trust? Do you live up to the expectations of God? Or do you crucify Him again and again? Moses could not enter Canaan as he transgressed the command of God once. We, who are proceeding to Heavenly Canaan, must obey the word of God and carry out His plan and will to inherit the Kingdom of God.
