Daily Devotion (English) – 03.02.2022 (God’s creation’s special)

 

Another opportunity 

 

“…let it alone this year also…” – Luke 13:8

 

A certain owner of a vineyard has planted me in his vineyard. I am delighted to be in the fertile garden under the tender care of the keeper of the vineyard. I grow well and strong. The beasts of the fields find shade under me and the birds dwell in my branches. Though I enjoy all comforts given to me, I am barren without fulfilling the purpose of my life on the earth. I get worried about myself. Can you make out who I am? 

 

Yes, I am the fig tree planted in the beautiful vineyard. The keeper of the vineyard is so good and he takes great care of me. He is always careful to see whether I receive sufficient water, fertilizer and sunlight. I am lovely to look at with many branches and lush green leaves. But Alas! I am barren. I am fruitless although I am tendered specially. I have not yielded a single fruit for three years. Sometimes you may be just like the useless tree like me without bearing any fruit. You see, God has blessed you with a good family, food, shelter and many other comforts to enjoy your life. But is your life useful to anyone? If the owner of the vineyard had planted any other tree, that would have given him good yield. Though I am provided with ample opportunities, I did not avail the chances given to me. What a miserable life I am leading! Are you making God sad and sorrowful by your fruitless like me? 

 

The master of the vineyard waited patiently for three years to see fruits on me. When the master found no fruit, he told the keeper to cut me down. But the keeper was so compassionate that he interceded for me with the master. He implored him to spare me for one more year. In the same manner, Jesus has interceded for you with God His father. That is why you are kept alive and given a new lease on your life this year. Jesus is anxiously awaiting to see your fruitful life. When you manifest the fruit of the spirit, it can sweeten and bring great impact on others and a transformation in the lives of those who approach you. Suppose I do not bear any fruit in the grace period, I will be cut and burnt down into ashes and that would be my end. But if you fail to bring forth good fruit, you will miss the golden opportunity to dwell in the house of the Lord forever. How pathetic the situation will be! So, strive hard to bear good fruits and adorn yourself with the fruit of the spirit.
