Who takes the first place?

 

“I have set the Lord always before me…” – Psalms 16:8 

 

A fascinating picture was drawn and painted by a famous artist. In that picture an angel was depicted as ploughing a field and then a farmer was depicted as kneeling down in the centre of the field with his hands folded and as lifting his eyes up and praying. Infacts it indicates that the farmer had prayed before sowing the seeds asking God to bless his endeavors and give good yield and he was imploring God to be his partner in all his efforts. As the farmer set the Lord before him and began his task, God had sent His angel to help him. 

 

If we take a look at the life of the David in the Bible, we could see David setting God before him and praising Him continually. In the book of Psalms he writes, “I have set the Lord always before me…” (Psalms 16:18). Then he writes in Psalms 34, “I will bless the Lord at all times. His praise shall continually be in my mouth.” So, under all circumstances and at all time and in all his works he kept the Lord before him and so he could perform all his tasks effortlessly and efficiently and he was blessed and exalted by God and he was made the King of Israel. 

 

Beloved in Christ, we accomplish numerous tasks daily. Do we carry out each work in God and with prayer? Let us ponder. The time spent with God before beginning our work will not be futile on any account. The more the time we spend on prayer, praising, Bible reading and meditation, the more effortless our performance will be. When we give God first place in what we do, God takes care of us and energies us to do what really needs to be done. So let us resolve to give God the first part of our day. If our first priority is God, He will establish the work of our hands for us.
