Stone that was rolled away

 

“Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy” - Matthew 5:7

 

A certain King was curious to know the genuine nature of his people. So, one day he disguised himself and went out. He laid a big stone in the middle of a very busy road. He hid 100 silver coins and a letter under the stone. He was watching from behind. Some people walked along the road overlooking the stone. Raju noticed the stone that was a hindrance. He got angry and shouted saying. “How unjust it is to put a big stone in the middle of the road! Tax collectors and officers fail to notice all these problems. How can people use this road?” Then Velan came that way. As he was hurrying, he struck his foot against the stone. So, he became angry. He kicked the stone saying, “The one who had placed the stone here must be a fool.” Mani also walked looking somewhere and he failed to notice it and he fallen over the stone. He got up saying, “I don’t know how many of them had falls down and got hurt so far. Hereafter let no one fall. So let me roll away the stone.” Thus, the stone was moved out of the way. To his surprise he found a letter and a hundred silver coins. He began to read the content. It was written, “The silver coins belong to the one who rolled away the stone.” He was commended by the king also. Mani went home happily with the silver coins.

 

Dear kids, we must not get angry soon. If we are easily provoked, we will fail to achieve anything. If we lose our temper easily, we will get into trouble. So let us be slow to wrath. Look at Mani. He was so compassionate that he wished to help the others and save them from falling. As it is written in the Bible, “For judgment is without mercy to the one who was shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.” We can act wisely, if we are patient and able to control our anger. Let us abound in every good work.
