Begin your day with Jesus

 

“...Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking into Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith...” – Hebrews 12:1,2 

 

A large crowd had gathered at an arranged place for a convention meeting. They waited in anticipation of hearing the message of the renowned preacher. But as soon as the preacher was on the stage, he entreated everyone to call on the name “Jesus, Jesus”. Some of them remarked that he was asking them to call out to Jesus in a childish way. Every one called on the name of the Lord Jesus for five minutes. The Lord’s glory filled the entire ground. The unclean spirits went out screaming loudly from the demon possessed people in the crowd. A lot of people were healed of their diseases. Many people accepted Jesus as their savior and they rejoiced in salvation. Later by God’s grace, a powerful message was given by the preacher.

 

Jesus Christ has done great things for us. Being the founder and finisher of our faith, He initiates and perfects our faith. In the Bible we read about heroes of faith who ran their race victoriously amidst their frailty, disability, weariness and difficulties. It was possible for them as they submitted themselves to God as they were and obtained power from the Holy Spirit. They kept their faith under predicament. When they were fighting a good fight, they were mocked, reviled and humiliated. They overcame everything because they trusted in God and He never let them face disgrace. When they failed or fell, God lifted them up and set them up and gave them victory.

 

Beloved, we have taken many good New Year resolutions. So, we will be blessed by God. But we have to remember that, to keep our words and resolutions, we need strength and support from God. We might have broken our promises and resolutions last year. As we failed last year, we need not go weary. If we prioritize Jesus and accomplish our tasks, surely the author and finisher of our faith will give us triumph.
