Holiness to the Lord

 

“In that day, ‘Holiness to the Lord’ shall be engraved on the bells of the horses.” – Zechariah 14:20 

 

The Lord our God is Holy. His dwelling place is Holy. He dwells in the high and the most holy place. God’s holiness pervades in His entire being and in His territories. God desires us to be holy so that He can work in us. The Bible says, “The holiness of the Lord which He loved.” Only when we understand the holiness of God, we can get the knowledge of God. God’s name is Holy. Without holiness no one will see the Lord. Holiness is a word and concept found 587 times in Scripture signifies how important it is to God. 

 

A music critic could not think of a more exact way of describing the skill of the violin virtuoso Itzhak Perriman. He praises him saying, “How pleasing and melodious the music when he moves the bow skillfully across the strings! His music seems to speak and answer to our worries.” A certain servant of God was yearning and looking for some one who could sing in praise of God and magnify His matchless name. The beauty of Holiness is magnified in many contexts of the Bible. When people are far away from God, they may boast about their skills and accomplishments. But once they get closer to the Lord, they put their hand on the mouth. Isaiah says, “Woe is to me, for I am undone because I am a man of unclean lips.” So blazing is God’s purity that Seraphim. They covered their face with two wings and their feet with two wings while singing praises to God and glorifying the highest. 

 

We are going to behold the Lord of Hosts who dwells in unapproachable light soon. We are going to celebrate and give praise to the remembrance of His Holiness. So let us grow in holiness. The Lord who desires to make us holy will lead us in holiness. Let honor and glory be to the holy name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
