Is there a challenge like this?

 

“That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world.” – John 1:9 

 

In the beginning of a new year, we resolve to be better every way and to do good to all and to grow spiritually. But to the contrary, Stephen and Sam challenged each other. Their challenge was to make friends with a hundred girls in the new year and get their contact numbers. Actually, Stephen loved Jesus and was leading a godly life. But like the prodigal son, he had backslidden and drifted away from God. He accepted the challenge and he was so desperate to win the challenge. He chose a new way to life. Just to win the challenge, he changed his hair style and way of dressing. Not only that, there was a noticeable change in his behavior and moral code. Just to win their friendship and to attract the attention of the young girls he changed his demeanor and manners. He was preoccupied with the thoughts about the challenge. He had no time to read the Bible and pray. Though he forgot God, God remembered him and had great concern for him. Within seven months Stephen made friends with 76 girls. He was so talented that he could easily impress the girls. He was confident to reach the goal. 

 

On this same day 29th, God intervened in his life. That night God spoke to him distinctly saying, “I died for you, won’t you live for me? What have you done for me so far? I have great plans and good purpose for you. How are you going to magnify my name?” Stephen was filled with remorse and regret. He submitted himself to the word of God and took the SIM card out and threw it away. He dedicated himself to live for Him. Our God is so mighty that He changed Saul into Paul. He came with a letter to imprison and destroy God’s people. God changed him and he wrote epistle for God’s people. God got involved in his life and He was looking for Stephen who ran after women and kept away from God. There was an overall change in his life. He was lifted up out of the mud and mire. Praise the Lord. Now he has been doing full time ministry in Village Missionary Movement. 

 

Friends, God can give light to everyman in this world. God despises no one. He despises only our sins. No matter how badly we have backslidden, let us lift our eyes to Jesus. He will come and deliver us and establish us.
