Word or flesh?

 

“The word became flesh and dwelt among us, and…full of grace and truth.” – John 1:14 

 

It was the month of Margazhi. A certain family was fast asleep due to the extreme cold weather. In the early hours of the day the parents were woken up by the sharp cry of their little twin babies. The couple passed through the valley Baca and led a life of wilderness for ten years. “You shall receive double” was the promise given to them and accordingly they were blessed will twin babies a month ago. The mother and grandmother tried to feed the babies and satisfy their hunger. The elder baby was bottle fed by his grandmother. Being satisfied he was drifting off to sleep. But the younger baby did not stop his cry. He did not suck milk from the bottle. His mother tried to pacify him but it was of no use. At last, she cuddled him tightly and sang the song which was sung often by her when he was in her womb. The baby identified his mother’s voice and began to sleep. The older one was content when his hunger was satisfied but the younger one could be satisfied only by the embrace and the loving voice of his dear mother.

 

Esau and Jacob were twin brothers who desired to get the blessings of their father. Jacob putting on his brother’s choice clothes, had taken away Esau’s blessings with deceit. He stole the blessings of Esau by God’s word. But Esau inherited and enjoyed his father’s possessions throughout his life. Jacob received blessings in word and he crossed Jorden with nothing but a staff and became two camps. By the blessings of his father’s word, he was named Israel by God and he became a nation. From generation to generation the blessings are passed on and all the nations of the earth are blessed.

 

God has made many promises to us. We must rejoice in them, stand on the promises and with unwavering faith we must inherit those blessings. His promises never fail. He who has promised is faithful. Just like Jacob who inherited blessings in the name of his elder brother, let us inherit God’s blessings in the name of our elder brother Jesus. It is sure and certain that God will bless us through Jesus Christ.
