“Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy” – Psalms 126:5
There was a certain non-Christian goldsmith. He had been challenging for a longtime and one day he said, “No one dares to preach Jesus to me. If they come, I shall argue and shut their mouth.” On hearing the words of the goldsmith, one of the aged elders of the church in the town grieved a lot. He and his wife began to pray with burden for the goldsmith. One day quite unexpectedly the elder happened to meet the goldsmith. The elder assured him saying, “My wife and I have been praying for you” while uttering this, out of the burden in his heart, his eyes were filled with tears. He couldn’t speak any more.
The heart of the goldsmith was shaken by the words and teary eyes of the elder. The image of his face flashed through his mind’s eye again and again. So, he rushed to the elder’s house saying, “Your teary eyes come to my mind often. I could feel a complete change in my heart.” He shared his thoughts and he humbled himself and knelt down. The elder prayed for him. The goldsmith’s heart was filled with incomprehensible heavenly peace and comfort. That day he accepted Jesus as his savior.
Beloved, we all have the desire to preach the love of Jesus to the people around us. We seek the opportunity to do it. But only preaching cannot bring in any change in them. Our efforts to change their heart will be futile and fruitless if we fail to pray for them with tears and with the burden for the souls. The Holy Bible says that Jesus prayed to His Father with tears and burden for the repentance of the people. If we pray and begin our ministry, God will create opportunities and help them grow in the knowledge of Christ Jesus by opening the eyes of their hearts. The Holy Spirit will work in their hearts so that the good news will be accepted by them. The Lord, who sees the tears we shed in secret, will reward us openly.
