Big Umbrella
“…the Lord will give what is good…” – Psalms 85:12
Hello, dear kids! How are you? we all like rainy season, don’t we? Yes. We enjoy a rainy day by getting wet, taking a rain shower and watching the rain fall. The weather is pleasant with cool breeze on a rainy day. Ok, let us listen to the story.
Durai was a smart and obedient boy. He helped his mother by doing chores. He used to get things from the shop. One day as usual Durai’s mother sent him to the shop. Before he could return home, it started to rain heavily. His mother got worried that her son might fall sick. Durai got drenched in rain and reached home. His mother dried him and his hair and gave him a cup of coffee to make him feel warm. When Durai’s father returned home after work, his mother insisted him to get an umbrella for Durai. Durai also went with his father to the shop. Do you like shopping? Yes, Ok. Durai and his father went straight to the umbrella stand. The umbrella was of different colors and sizes. Durai selected a small, colorful and patterned umbrella. But his father preferred a big, black, plain and strong umbrella and got it billed. Durai was sad because his friends would make fun of him saying that his umbrella was an old man’s umbrella. One day when he was getting ready to go for tuition, his mother reminded him to take the umbrella as there were signs of rain. Durai did not like to take his umbrella but took it out of compulsion. When the tuition class was over it began to rain with strong winds. The small and fashionable umbrellas of his friends were blowing away in the wind and turning itself inside out. They were not strong enough to withstand the stormy wind. Then they were all under Durai’s big umbrella and reached home without getting wet. Durai was delighted. He kissed and thanked his father saying, “If you had purchased the fashionable umbrella liked by me, only would have felt happy. But it would have been a useless one. Now I understand that whatever you do, you do it for my good.
Dear little friends, Whatever Jesus does for us is only for our good. It may seem to be wrong and unpleasant. It is for our benefit. We must keep thanking God for all the good things he has bestowed on us.
