Grace days
“Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed; because His compassions fail not.” - Lamentation 3:22
In the year 2001, two minutes of massive earthquake let to colossal loss of lives and properties in the state of Gujarat on the Republic Day. Bhuj was the most devastated town. In Anjar and Kutch, the school children around 400 were in Republic Day parade and they were trapped under the rubble of the school building. The wailing cries of the children and the lamenting of parents looking for their children could be heard. Tanita, a devout lady had just left her office a few minutes before the earthquake had occurred and her office building was flattened. If Tanita had remained in her office for a little more time, her body would be found in debris. She asserted that she was alive and was not consumed only by the pure grace of God.
During the coronavirus pandemic so many God’s men and ministers passed away. We are kept alive and spared by the mercies of God. Jesus said, “The tower of Siloam fell on eighteen and killed them. Do you think they were worst sinners than all other men who dwelt in Jerusalem? Unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.” He also spoke the parable of the barren fig tree. A certain man had planted a fig tree in his vineyard. When he came seeking fruit on it and found none, he told the keeper of the vineyard to cut it down as it was barren. But the keeper said to him, “Sir, let it alone this year also, I will dig around and fertilize it. If it does not bear fruit after that we can cut it”
Thus, it is clear as crystal that we have been kept alive only to bear good fruits. It doesn’t mean that those who had lost their lives were sinners. In fact, they had completed the tasks assigned to them and gone to rest. As we are still in the land of the living, we can perform great things for Christ. We can pray for the perishing souls. We can offer prayer of intercession for the salvation of our nation. We can utilize our time and talents to do ministry. Let us fulfill the desire of the Lord in sparing us this year and taking care of us to see good fruits. Hallelujah.
