Priority
“…seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” – Matthew 6:33
Eric Liddell was a rugby player and a Scottish sprinter. Later he became a missionary in China. He won the AAA championships in athletics in the 100-yard race setting a British record that would not be equaled for 23 years. He participated in the Olympics held at Paris, in 1924. He refused to run in the heats for his favored 100 meters as it was held on Sunday and was forced to withdraw from 100 meters race. He was sure that obeying the voice of the Lord is more essential than receiving fame. So, Eric honored God and gave Him first preference and he was honored and exalted by God. In the same Olympics he competed in the 400 meters held on a week day and broke the Olympic record and set a new world record.
Christ Jesus in his sermon on the mountain tells us to seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness. If we submit ourselves to God and seek the Kingdom of heaven, God will take care of us and direct our path.
Dear readers, do we give priority to God in our lives? We neglect Sunday worship and service giving variety of reasons and lame excuses. We tend to seek God and pray fervently only when we encounter troubles, distress and trails. We prioritize our social status and luxurious life. Let us have God first in our priorities and set our mind on things above. Whoever honors God will be honored and exalted by our Heavenly Father.
